Anoka Children's Theatre

The Anoka Children's Theatre (ACT) was conceived in January 1990, when twenty Anoka-area elementary and middle school students rehearsed and performed "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" at Wilson Community School.
Since that very first show, ACT has continued to grow and enrich the lives of actors and the community. Cast size has ranged from 20-52, and audiences have grown from 100 to over 3,000 patrons, performing a wide variety of plays and musicals. ACT will continue to provide Anoka-Hennepin Schools students in grades four through eight an opportunity to be part of a live theatrial experience where they rehearse, learn and perform to the delight of themselves as well as their audiences.
The Anoka Children's Theatre is dedicated to nurturing each child's creative and expressive potential as they learn about the art of theatre.
  • To teach expressive use of body and voice.
  • To teach creative drama.
  • To develop aesthetic growth through appreciation of theatrical events.
  • To build self-esteem, self-discipline, and encourage creative thinking in a supportive and noncompetitive atmosphere.
